Lymphedema is a chronic condition characterised by swelling in the tissues of the body along with\u00a0fluid retention, as the body is unable to drain lymph fluid. The most commonly affected areas are the legs and arms, though it can occur anywhere in the body.<\/p>\n
Currently there is no single cure for lymphedema. However, it can be managed and the symptoms controlled with a variety of techniques to improve quality of life. Treatments are available to minimise the build-up of fluid and to stimulate the fluid to pass through the lymphatic system, these include massage, exercise, diet and in some cases surgery such as Lymphatico-venous anastomosis.\u00a0At consultation Mr Bhat<\/a> will assess and advise on best course of care.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":3608,"parent":0,"menu_order":0,"template":"","class_list":["post-3606","condition","type-condition","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"\n
