Mastopexy / Mastopexy Augmentation
Mastopexy, commonly known as a breast lift, and mastopexy augmentation, a combination of breast lift and augmentation, are surgical procedures aimed at lifting and reshaping the breasts to a more youthful position and contour. These surgeries address sagging or drooping breasts caused by factors such as pregnancy, weight fluctuations, ageing or genetics.
The surgical process of mastopexy involves several steps. During a breast lift, Mr Bhat removes excess skin, reshapes the breast tissue, repositions the nipple-areola complex to a higher position, and tightens the surrounding tissue for a firmer appearance. Mastopexy augmentation incorporates the placement of implants to increase breast volume and fullness while simultaneously lifting the breasts.
Following surgery, you may experience mild discomfort, swelling, and bruising, managed with prescribed pain medication and wearing a supportive bra. Rest and limiting activities that strain the chest muscles are advised initially. Gradually, you can resume regular activities as guided by Mr Bhat and his team. Regular follow-ups ensure proper healing and address any concerns.
Choosing a qualified surgeon (such as Mr Bhat) and discussing expectations, risks, and aftercare is crucial. Risks associated with these procedures will be discussed at the pre-operative consultation, and may include scarring, changes in sensation, and potential complications related to implants. Adhering to postoperative instructions, including proper wound care and avoiding strenuous activities, helps promote optimal healing and long-lasting results. Additionally, regular breast examinations and follow-up visits are recommended to maintain breast health and monitor the results of the surgery. These are typically made at 1 week, 6 weeks and 3 months after surgery.

Frequently asked questions
Am I suitable for mastopexy / mastopexy augmentation?
At a pre-operative consultation Mr Bhat will carry out a thorough examination of the breasts, and will require details about your health, medical history and reasons for treatment. These factors will determine if you are a suitable candidate for mastopexy / mastopexy augmentation which is often sought to improve the appearance of sagging and / or small breasts that have lost volume.
Is mastopexy / mastopexy augmentation safe?
Mastopexy and mastopexy augmentation are generally safe when performed by skilled surgeons in accredited facilities, with risks minimised through careful patient assessment and adherence to postoperative care guidelines.
Will it hurt?
A general anaesthetic is used to perform this procedure, so you will be asleep throughout. A course of pain relief will be prescribed for you after the surgery which will be needed to manage any post-surgery discomfort.
How soon after surgery can I wash?
You can usually shower 48 hours after the surgery, allowing enough time for the wounds to seal. Part of your aftercare instructions will suggest showering with warm water and gentle products, avoiding powerful jets. You’ll need to pat the area dry with a soft towel, taking care not to disturb the wounds.
What results can I expect?
Mastopexy can help to lift sagging breasts to a more natural looking position on the chest wall. The final outcome has usually developed within 3 or 4 months. Minor scarring may be noticeable for several months, but this will fade over time.

I plucked up courage to have upper blepharaplasty with Waseem Bhat, I had two zoom consultations before going ahead with surgery.
I was very nervous but Waseem and Nicki made me feel completely at ease during surgery. Everything was explained to me and I felt in safe hands. I’ve just returned to the clinic for my sutures removing and even though it’s early days I can already see such an improvement I’m extremely pleased. It boosts your confidence and makes you feel so much happier with yourself.
