Labial Sagging / Enlargement

The labia is made up of the labia minora (inner lips of the vagina) and the labia majora (outer lips of the vagina). Labial sagging / enlargement refers to the concerns a woman experiences when there are vaginal changes. This condition can cause physical discomfort as large or stretched labia can rub on clothing, with significant cases also finding discomfort when sitting or doing exercise. Women may also experience aesthetic issues, feeling embarrassment when the labia are noticeable through certain clothing (under wear, swimwear or fitted trousers / leggings), or when in intimate situations.

Sagging or enlarged labia, a condition known as labial hypertrophy, can have various causes. Natural anatomical variations, genetic factors, and hormonal changes play significant roles. Hormonal fluctuations during puberty, pregnancy, and menopause can lead to increased blood flow and changes in tissue elasticity, contributing to labial changes. Ageing and reduced collagen production also impact skin elasticity, potentially causing sagging. Trauma during childbirth or repetitive friction can exacerbate labial changes. Certain medical conditions, like hormonal imbalances or connective tissue disorders, may contribute as well.
