Bingo Wings

Bingo Wings

Bingo wings is an affectionate term used to describe the appearance of sagging skin on the upper arms. With this concern, the skin will typically hang when the arms are lifted, wobbling when the arms are moved around. Bingo wings can affect men and women and may be accompanied by loose skin / wrinkles in people who are older in their years.

Bingo wings often result from a combination of factors. Ageing usually plays a significant role, causing a natural decline in collagen and elastin production, essential proteins for skin firmness and elasticity. Reduced muscle tone is also common with age and also contributes to the laxity of the skin. Weight is the other contributor with this concern. Excess fat is stored in the body when too much fat, sugar and / or energy is consumed. When extra fat accumulates in the upper arms it can start to hang. Through weight loss (especially if it is rapid and not accompanied by muscle toning exercises) excess skin can develop. Genetics also influence the likelihood of developing bingo wings. Sun exposure, smoking, and poor lifestyle choices accelerate skin ageing and may exacerbate sagging.

The cumulative impact of these factors results in the appearance of bingo wings, prompting individuals to seek cosmetic interventions like toning exercises or, in some cases, surgical procedures. Brachioplasty is a common procedure performed by Mr Waseem Bhat which can help to restore arm aesthetics. It aims to remove excess skin and fat, which may be assisted by liposuction. This procedure can be carried out as part of a comprehensive plan, combining brachioplasty with a thigh lift, abdominoplasty and buttock lift to improve overall body contouring – particularly following bariatric surgery or for mums who want to restore their pre-pregnancy figure.
