Buttock Lift

A buttock lift, medically known as gluteoplasty, is a surgical procedure designed to enhance the shape and contour of the buttocks by removing excess skin and fat, resulting in a more toned and lifted appearance. It’s a popular option for individuals looking to address sagging or loose skin due to ageing, significant weight loss, or genetic factors that contribute to a lack of definition in the buttock area.

Mr Waseem Bhat chooses a technique depending on the extent of surgery, and is the most suitable to achieve your expected results. Incisions may be made along the lower back, from hip to hip, or within the natural contours of the buttocks (in the lower crease). This allows him to remove the required amount of excess skin and fat. Mr Bhat may also perform liposuction to remove small deposits of excess fat, and further sculpt the area. After reshaping the tissues and achieving the desired contour, the incisions are closed with sutures. This procedure generally addresses each buttock independently, and the techniques used are adapted to ensure balance and symmetry for the bottom, overall.

Side effects and risks will be discussed at consultation, and the recovery period varies for each individual. It’s likely that you can return to work within a couple of weeks, gradually resuming regular activities following Mr Bhat’s guidance. Aftercare often includes wearing compression garments to reduce swelling, avoiding sitting directly on the buttocks for an initial period, and adhering to a specific recovery plan that includes limited physical activity.

Frequently asked questions

Those seeking a buttock lift are typically unhappy with the appearance of their bottom which may have become saggy in appearance. This is often due to general ageing when tissue volume and skin elasticity has declined. In some cases excess skin following significant weight loss is a factor, which has occurred as a result of stretched skin.

As with any surgical procedure, there are potential risks and complications, so it’s crucial to choose a board-certified plastic surgeon (such as Mr Bhat) and thoroughly discuss expectations, risks, and aftercare protocols before undergoing a buttock lift.

The type of anaesthesia used depends on the extent of surgery. During the consultation we will decide whether to use a general anaesthetic, or local anaesthetic with sedation.

You should wait for around 48 hours before washing the treated area. This will allow for the incisions to seal effectively. Mr Bhat often recommends a gentle shower (avoiding a powerful jet), warm water and a gentle soap. Baths and swimming may need to be avoided for around 4-6 weeks.

Complete healing and the final results may take several months to become fully apparent, but we typically expect you to experience a more contoured and lifted appearance in your  buttocks.
