Labiaplasty
Labiaplasty is a surgical procedure aimed at altering the size or shape of the labia minora (the inner lips of the vulva) or the labia majora (the outer lips) to enhance their appearance or alleviate discomfort. It’s commonly sought by individuals experiencing physical discomfort, self-consciousness, or dissatisfaction due to enlarged or asymmetrical labial tissues.
The surgical process of labiaplasty involves several techniques. For labia minora reduction, Mr Waseem Bhat trims the excess tissue and reshapes the labia to achieve a more symmetrical and proportionate appearance. Labia majora reduction can involve liposuction, tissue excision, or fat grafting to sculpt and contour the outer labial area.
Incisions are typically made along the natural folds and contours of the labia minora or majora. Proper placement and precise surgical techniques aim to minimise visible scarring, often resulting in discreet scars that fade over time, becoming less noticeable.
Side effects will be discussed before the procedure, and you can expect to experience mild discomfort, swelling, and bruising in the treated area. Applying ice packs and taking prescribed pain medications help manage these symptoms. Patients are advised to avoid strenuous activities, sexual intercourse, and tight clothing for a few weeks to aid in the healing process. Proper hygiene practices and following postoperative care instructions provided by Mr Bhat and his team are crucial for a smooth recovery.
It’s essential for individuals considering labiaplasty to consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon (such as Mr Bhat), openly discuss their concerns and expectations, and understand the potential risks and benefits associated with the procedure.

Frequently asked questions
Am I suitable for Labiaplasty?
Labiaplasty is often sought by women experiencing enlarged or protruding labia. This can occur due to genetics, hormonal changes, childbirth, ageing, or conditions causing tissue laxity, leading to discomfort or self-consciousness. A comprehensive consultation with Mr Bhat will establish your suitability for treatment.
Is labiaplasty safe?
Labiaplasty is considered a safe procedure. Choosing a qualified and experienced surgeon (such as Mr Bhat) and adhering to aftercare instructions greatly contribute to achieving desired outcomes and ensuring a safe recovery.
Will it hurt?
The procedure is typically performed under local anaesthesia with sedation or general anaesthesia, depending on the extent of surgery and patient preference.
How soon after surgery can I wash?
You should be able to shower on the same day of surgery, letting the water run over the treated area. You may need to spread the labial folds carefully to ensure the area stays clean.
What results can I expect?
Labiaplasty provides improved labial symmetry, reduced size, and enhanced appearance. Significant improvement is noticeable after a few weeks, with final results typically visible within a few months.

I plucked up courage to have upper blepharaplasty with Waseem Bhat, I had two zoom consultations before going ahead with surgery.
I was very nervous but Waseem and Nicki made me feel completely at ease during surgery. Everything was explained to me and I felt in safe hands. I’ve just returned to the clinic for my sutures removing and even though it’s early days I can already see such an improvement I’m extremely pleased. It boosts your confidence and makes you feel so much happier with yourself.
