Brow Lift

A brow lift, medically known as a forehead lift or browplasty, is a cosmetic procedure aimed at rejuvenating the upper face by reducing sagging of the brows and forehead skin. It’s designed to reduce the appearance of noticeable wrinkles, smooth lines, and restore a more youthful appearance to the upper facial area.

During a brow lift, Mr Waseem Bhat uses the technique that best suits your individual needs and desired outcomes. Traditionally, this involves a method whereby incisions are made either at the hairline or within the scalp. This allows Mr Bhat to lift and reposition underlying tissues and muscles. Alternative approachs include removing strips of skin or an endoscopic method, which utilises smaller incisions and a tiny camera to perform the procedure with minimal scarring. Through these techniques, excess skin is removed, and muscles are adjusted to lift and reshape the brow and forehead.

Post-surgery, you can expect some bruising, swelling, and mild discomfort. Recovery times vary, but you’ll generally find you can resume light activities within a week. Strenuous activities and exercise / going to the gym should be avoided for a few weeks to ensure proper healing. Aftercare includes wound care and following specific instructions from Mr Bhat, which may involve keeping the head elevated and taking prescribed medications to manage discomfort and prevent infection.

Longer term, you will need to ensure you protect the skin from sun exposure and engage in a specific skincare routine recommended by Mr Bhat.

Results typically become more apparent as swelling subsides, with a smoother forehead, reduced wrinkles, and a rejuvenated upper face. It’s essential to attend follow-up appointments to monitor healing and address any concerns, ensuring optimal and satisfying outcomes. These are typically made at 1 week, 6 weeks 6 months after surgery.

Frequently asked questions

In general, those seeking a brow lift (forehead lift) are concerned with the appearance of deep set wrinkles (known as forehead lines / worry lines and frown lines) and / or a fallen brow, which may be accompanied by droopy eyelids.

Mr Bhat conducts thorough consultation prior to surgery, which explores your medical history and overall health, to ensure you are suitable for this procedure.

Mr Bhat and his team take every step to ensure the procedure is carried out with precision and care. Patient safety is paramount, and each procedure is tailored to meet individual needs and treatment goals.

Surgery can be painful which is why an anaesthetic is used. For a brow lift, a local anaesthetic is a suitable method which ensures the treatment area is completely numb, but you’ll also be awake. During the recovery period painkillers will be recommended to help manage any post-surgery discomfort.

You should be able to shower a day after surgery if you take care not to get the wound excessively wet. When drying, pat your wounds gently and carefully. Ideally you should wait until after your wound check at 6 weeks before completely submerging the treated area in water – this includes having a bath, jacuzzi or going swimming.

As swelling and bruising subsides, the forehead area will look smoother and firmer. This will generally provide a more youthful look to the upper face, which may also help to lift the upper eyelids and create a more open eye area.
